Frank Kern plays John Carlton’s Slide Guitar

You’ve got to hand it to Frank Kern!

The coolest Internet Marketeer on the planet (probably), also plays slide guitar!

Frank plays 3 step slide marketing magic

Frank plays 3 step slide marketing magic

Another cracking video from Frank Kern about the 3 way technique that John Carlton taught him in the green room, before the StomperNet launch. The 3 magic marketing steps are

  • Step 1) Here’s what I got !
  • Step 2) Here’s what it wil do for you !
  • Step 3) Here’s what I want you to do next !

What John Carlton Taught Frank Kern about telling it like it is…

And of course when you’re as cool as Frank, people like John Carlton send you gifts like Grech slide guitars.

Hey ;-)

It’s a bit of a mind bend from the original Mass Control doctrine, but no doubt the secret sauce is about combining the two principles! Hey you heard that first HERE!

All slide guitars and other gifts gratefully received ;-)

CCS Creator (Frank Kern’s Brain) will be updated to reflect this new magic power!

A Video Marketing Example:

The video is also a great example of video marketing!

Whilst it sells nothing directly, there is a call for action, in that you can opt-in to the list.

The almost Baywatch scenes of people surfing on the beach (just without the slow motion bouncing breasts – Frank isn’t in shot LOL ).

But if you examine the video footage it is all home shoot stuff.

  • People on his local beach
  • One particular surfer riding the wave
  • Frank playing slide guitar in his sofa.
  • Frank walking to his laptop
  • Frank at his laptop
  • Frank typing on his laptop qweerty keyword
  • Frank’s laptop screen
  • Frank’s ear (yeah well that’s arty camera work for you)
  • And close-up, mid and distance shots of Frank’s face

Yes it is quite well edited, with interspersed shots of the same thing in black and white (greyscale) and at least a 2 camera shoot shot from different angles with zooms and pans going on.

So yeah, it isn’t a static webcam.

But I think 1 camera was a static tripod camera, aimed at the main face chair bit, and then the roving roaming zoom pan guy, who was doing the stuff to inter-cut.

Black and white footage is of course, just a filter on most video editing packages.

But all in all a nice video! Why? Because the main action is the main character (Frank) talking, plus interspersed shot of what is is doing or looking at.

The re-cut of the into beach scene while Fran walks from sofa to laptop, is just a segment copy. But effective as it “frames” the action and makes it in to a natural intro.
One great thing! Notice how Frank wears a lavalier T Clip microphone, even though he is wearing a T Shirt. This means the audio is CLEAN and AUDIBLE. Cough people! No stupid distant built-in camera microphone going buzz, whirr, click.

If you need to source a high quality tie clip lavalier microphone like this, (update ALL GIONE).

So there we have it. A classic example of web 2.0 style video. Just a guy talking. All home footage. Clean audio (hooray) and it works, because it is a great “message”. Content is king, is also about what is in the content ;-)

Video marketing comes of age! On a beach near you soon…
