Why anonomity doesn’t work
In an ideal world, if you did something incredible, the world would just know, knock at your eCommerce shop door and thank you profusely for letting them buy such a great thing..
But the world doesn’t work like that.
So to some it may seem like a black hat technique to actually have to go out and tell people you exist, but you know what will happen if you don’t?
One reason why blogs work so well, is they have a small system in them, to let someone know when you have written something amazing. The default in Wordpress is PingoMatic.
Now in theory one ping leads to another and in theory many of the ping systems will have picked up on you and be pinging who they ping themselves.
But this is humanity and some of them CHEAT, They ping everyone, as hard and fast as they can. And then as frequently as they can (NOT recommended BTW).
Now you can think of this as being rude and shouting, but point is these cheaters get heard.
Now sure you may want to take a more calm approach and steer well clear of being caught out as a “ping spammer”, but you do NEED to do more than the minimum.
It seemed to be a few months ago, that using lots of pinging sites was a good idea. This idea seems to have changed and now the “prime ping hit list” has gone down from 100 down to 20.
Of course which top 20 you use, is in theory, important.
Today I’m releasing to my PBdiscovery newsletter subscribers, the top 20 prime ping list I now use. This has been collated by 6 of the best (self acclaimed) traffic gurus in the sphere, so it should be at least OK, if not brilliant.
