The Naff and Lazy side of PPC Web Spy

Brad Callen is a pretty cool guy. His SEO Elite and Keyword Elite software, may not be the best keyword research and seo analysis tools out there any more, but they are what other tools are judged by.

PPC Web Spy is a recent release from Brad and it is getting a lot of hype and buzz about it, but for the wrong reason.

Even Frank Kern and Trey from Info Millionaire have pretended that the tool is free (you only get 10 results which is almost worthless) so that they get the future benefits of sales and searches. SNEAKY!

Here are the facts.

In essence one aspect of PPC Web Spy is appealing to the LAZY SIDE of IM marketeers and it just doesn’t really work.

First and foremost PPC Web Spy is a keyword research tool. In particular, it is a Google Adsense PPC “keyword sniffer” that monitors what keywords your competitors are using in their Google Adsense adverts. Apparently they sniff over 2 billion keywords every 45 days to keep it up to date. Google must be over joyed with that traffic

Many other keyword services, charge a monthly fee for this sort of continually monitored data. Services like Hexatrack and Spyfu for instance. Neither of which I recommend.

The “theory” is that if your competitors are using these keywords for their adverts (on a long term basis) they must be making money out of them.

I really find that whole principle flawed, but that is another story for another time. (I do my keyword research on actual market value and buoyancy, and my own system for that will be released in the future.)

If you “PAY” for PPC Web Spy, then it is $97 as a one off fee and you get 100 PPC keywords, in any niche, at any time. And that is very useful data to have, and very convenient at the roll of a mouse.

Unfortunately, probably as a marketing ploy, Brad also added a “bonus feature”. And this is the one getting the wrong sort of reactions.

People who install this tool (it is a Widget for Mozilla Firefox web browser only) also get their top 2 Google search results replaced by the tool. What it does is replace the links with the affiliate links of PPC Web Spy “seller”.

The seller is who ever “sells” the version to the user. Not from promoting or using the free version, but once they upgrade to paid.

Immediately people thought it meant replace the top 2 results of Google search with their own affiliate links and got horribly excited in a very lazy way.

Firstly, people can turn this feature off. People can re-register to bypass you. People may un-install the widget completely as it produces quite a lot of real estate bloat.

For various technical reasons, quite who the “seller” for any particular version is not as clear cut and smooth as it should be. And several people have over reacted in the forum and said PPC Web Spy is a scam. In fact it works fine, you just need to make sure the correct procedures are followed. But that means work, and lazy people do not expect to work, and so they just whinge when money doesn;t just knock at their door on auto pilot with out adding any skill of their own. That is just a fact. Get over it!

In the free version of PPC Web Spy you only get 10 random PPC keywords and that is all you get.

You need to buy it where you can create your own affiliate branded version, where you have even any chance of getting your affiliate links on search results 1 and 2. But remember, people can turn this off, or bypass you. So do not rely on this feature.

Do note that this is not position 1 or 2 in Google for real.
This ONLY ever appears to people in YOUR downline when they search, and ONLY whilst in your downline.
If they pay, or refer sufficient upgraders, or un-install your version, your affiliate links will not appear in their top 2 searches any longer. Game over. Profit blimp over.

Personally I think the affiliate search bumping is a little naff and isn’t the real strength of the tool.
IMHO it is a temporary possible bump in earnings (btw my earnings to date from my downline are zero point zero)

The real strength of ppc web spy, comes in th”e web spy” part of it.
If you pay the $97 for Platinum level, you can get 100 keywords “in use” by your competitors, in any niche, any time for a one time fee. That is amazing, when other services charge a monthly fee for this!
