It’s quite difficult to run an on-line business without needing a bulk email program.
Even if your web business is mainly a forum, or shop, or blog,or training course, or even a web 2.0 social video portal, at some stage you will probably need to email your entire client list.
Sure you can do that with your dial-up or ADSL account, private email account, and even use a reply to which is even your business email, so it will appear to nearly everyone, that is your business email. (The truth does lie in the email headers, should any one care to look)
You can even, if you’re lucky and your host lets you (though many do not and the rest often limit throughput to 100 per hour to stop spam and many don’t tell yo about that either) send your emails via an SMTP mail straight from your domain name server.
But the trouble with both of these methods is SPAM. It only takes 1 person to complain and your ISP/HOST account may be shut done immediately.
Many hosts operate a ZERO TOLERANCE SPAM policy and you get little or no right to appeal. I actually lost a hosting account like that, for 1 (yes count them) complaint. There’s an embarrassing story behind that, but that’s for another time…
Any email list contact or membership update system in your web presence (i.e. blog, shop, training moodle, etc) will suffer from the same problems. I only know of one membership script that interfaces with Aweber directly.
But that isn’t the whole story either. Unscrupulous people would think they can use a PAYG dial-up account to send their SPAMs, or an Internet Cafe.
But it still doesn’t work!
SPAM filters are triggered whenever a large number of the same emails come via the same source, and up to 80% of your email may be being blocked and never arrive.Worst of all, you are never really sure why your email campaign is not working. Did they never get to read your message, or did they not like the subject and binned it, or did they actually see it and not like it?
You can only ever just by the 0.5~5% of people who act upon it.
Also even if it does arrive in an Inbox, unless the person recognises your email address (or is that interested in your email subject) they may not bother to open it anyway.
Also a lot of people use email program (i.e. Outlook or Eudora) in WHITELIST mode. AKA they only get to see emails from people they know.
So all around, email is a BIG problem!
The thing with Aweber (and GetResponse) is they work very hard to build-up a NO SPAM service. They use double opt-in and the Opt_out mechanism is provided by them automatically. They have also negotiated deals with several ISPs (ie AOL) by proving how responsible they are.
So bottom line is Aweber email gets through, probably 92% of the time, which is as good as email will ever get.
So you aren’t just paying for the facility of email auto-responders (which you can auto reply or schedule, or schedule as a series), nor just the facility of opti/out, nor the auto creation of web page forms, nor all the statistics and tracking (ie URL clickthrus) that Aweber can provide.
But you are paying for their reputation, that they can deliver your email.
It’s pretty much a club. Once you pay Aweber to be in it, you are considered to be one of the good guys, a responsible emailer.
And if you should turn out not to be, Aweber will kick you out like a skunk on heat. Email is Aweber’s business, and their business is their reputation.
So you can probably see why Aweber is so common amongst IM circles. Aweber is like the safe sex condom of IM email
Check out Aweber autoresponder mass email system for yourself.
It’s very simple to use, once you get the hang of their multi stage menus.
They do have their own video training in using it, but I think I will do a PDF crib sheet for it anyway.
I have found some “tricks” to use it for even better results, so I will include those in it. I guess the Furony.com will be that I’ll use Aweber for you to subscribe to it.
it’s quite a VIRAL product in it’s own right ![]()
BTW if you are one of the lucky ones to get a copy of CSS creator - Frank Kern’s brain, their is an integrated Aweber module in that for the landing./etc page.
It is FREE while the insanity runs wild in my head…
