The one thing worse than recession
The one thing worse than recession… what on earth can it be?
Christmas! Well at least for some of us un-festive miseries.
So why is Christmas such a bad time for me?
Two main reason;
Firstly it is near the end of year review, when I look back at the year and think what happened. What went wrong. What went right. What I got correct. And what I got wrong. What “fun” I had and what wasn;t so much fun. It can be a pretty depressing time for some of us…
Secondly is the pressures of Christmas. The commercialism and expensive gift buying, the excesses, and of course the relationship pressures of family and friiends. Making contact with people you have happily ignored al year so far. Maybe even spending time with relatives you don’t even like, all in the name of the birth of Jesus, or if you’re not a Jesus fan, in the name of a public holiday held in most parts of the world. Hmm not so festive without the mass of the christ is it?
Of course it’s not all doom and gloom. It’s only 1 day, well 2 if you include boxing day, and then at least all the shops open again for milk and bread.
Of course it’s also a day when the postman doesn’t wake you up and the phone doesn’t ring much either. So a day to reflect in moderate peace
Presumably it shoud lalso be a time to look forward with optiism and make snew plans, soaked in the luxuries of gifts taht have bestowed upon you. OK well at least you might have some new socks to wear, doing it…
So what will Christmas 2008 bring me?
Well for the 4th time this decade, a fundamental paradigm shift in what I do and how I do it!
As they say “Why be surpriesed when doing the same thing, in the same way, never produces different results?”
So more than anything, 2009 is a year for change. Hopefully for the better!
And one of the first things in place, is unsubscription from every single guru list. I now no longer recieve a single email from any guru, anywhere, and honestly my life is already richer and my business more profitable because of it. You can either dream and talk about it, or you can do it. You can either read “take consistant action” a million times, or you can stop reading, and start doing it. That why this sentence ends here…
